Dealing With Debt Collectors During Settlement

If you are in the middle of setting the groundwork for a Consumer Debt Settlement – haven’t paid anything, building up a settlement account – most likely you are dealing with multiple phone calls and letters from debt collectors – both in house and hired by the credit companies. Don’t let them get to you. They are masters of using psychological tactics to get you to do one thing, get back on a payment plan so they can make more interest off of you. They’ll also call your neighbors and relatives, and although they can’t tell why they are trying to get a hold of you, it’s embarrassing, and that’s their intent. To keep this from happening, be proactive. Call them twice a month and tell them you can’t afford a monthly payment arrangement, but are working on getting money together to settle. This usually works. In the end most of their talk is bluff.
