Freaky subways
Many people are too freaked out to use subways. They think of them as dirty, dark dangerous places, where hoodlums hang out. Well maybe in Walter Hills 1979 classic film The Warriors, but nowdays the New York City subway is well lit and very clean. Some routes only take you downtown, and some routes only go uptown. It’s important to check the map on the subway to see which route you need to get on. The MetroCard is the best way to pay for the subway. Tokens are still available but if you use the MetroCard you get discounts, unlimited ride cards and free transfers to buses. The subway is less crowded after 9pm, and becomes more dangerous to use. Remember safety in numbers.
