Thowing a Baby Shower for and Adopting Mom
I have a few tips on throwing a shower for a mom who is adopting and I thought I’d share them here. First, don’t do anything different - being a parent is being a parent. Second, don’t try too hard to make it just like a standard shower. It’s special. Being adopted is a big deal so focus on how lucky the kid is and make sure guests know that it’s ok to talk about the process with the mom. That’s kind of her pregnancy - the process of finding this baby so make it the center of conversation. There are some cool adoption gifts out there but generally, steer clear of anything that’s too specific. All moms need diapers, clothes, bottles and wipees and assuming she has a registry then stick to that - all mothers appreciate keeping the gifts confined to the registry.
