I love FreeBSD.
I love FreeBSD. It’s the best operating system design in the Open Source Software world, as far as I am concerned. And while it is not designed to be easy to use for desktop users, it is designed to be easy to use for those who are willing to, and interested in, getting under the hood a bit.
FreeBSD is designed with the philosophy that the operating system designer should build the tools to let the end user do whatever they want and otherwise they should get out of the way. The result requires some learning to use,but is customizable to the nth degree. It’s a bit like how shoe manufacturers specialize for different sports. Ballet shoes, fencing shoes, track shoes, and so on. FreeBSD can be made into whatever you need it to be.
